Paper Pumpikin Alternative - October 2017

Paper Pumpkin Alternative
Pining For Plaid   (October 2017)

This month’s kit sample page….

Here’s what the kit contained (I love the plaid lined envelopes!)

The anticipation for this kit was really exciting to be a part of.  Stampin’ Up! hinted that the design would be plaid related and that this kit would coordinate with next month’s kit (cannot wait to see that one too!!).

I love Shaker Cards and this kit made some really cute ones.  The original designs are wonderful and I was tempted to just do them exactly as Stampin’ Up! suggested, however, I wanted to give you some more ideas.  I hope you like them!
Alternative #1
I added the sweet sweater covered deer from the FREE Hostess Bonus stamp set, Merry Patterns to this fun card.  I also used the circle that was punched out of the ‘hole’ so it would show the bottom of the little gold cap on the ornament design.  I sponged it to add some color and added the pine twigs to look like brush around the deer.
Alternative #2
I wanted to see more of the plaid, so I cut one of the card bases to 3.75” by 5”, matted with Basic Black card stock (cs) and added some Shimmer Ribbon before adhering it to a card base of Old Olive cs.  Then I matted the pre-printed tree design onto more Basic Black cs before adding it over the that.  The sentiment was punched out with the Every Day Label Punch.  To add the matting on both sides I simply punched out another label from Basic Black cs again, cut it in half and added it to each end before adhering with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little bling, I include a few Rhinestone Basics to ribbon and over the little pre-printed 'star' images. This is the only card that is not a shaker card.
Alternatives #3
I had a half of the card base left from the previous design so I decided to trim it to 4” x 5.25” and adhere to Basic Black cs base.  I kept it simple by adhering a simple strip of Black Shimmer Ribbon to the front.
Alternative #4
Similar to #3, I added just a bit of the same ribbon using Fast Fuse to hold the shape.  I topped the ribbon with a sequin from the kit and small Rhinestone Basic in the center.

Alternatives #5 and #6
These two are the same design, just different ribbons.  They are not too different from the original SU design, I changed the sentiment and it’s location.
I hope you enjoyed my alternative ideas this month.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss next month – Which Stampin’ Up! has informed us will also be Christmas themed and it will coordinate with this kit.  If you want in on the fun be sure to sign up using the link below before November 10th!
